Is Financial Security possible?
The question is a common one, intertwined with other queries: Will we have enough income during retirement? What if the market crashes again—will we still be okay? Will we be able to travel as we always planned? Is Uncle Sam going to benefit from our hard work more than we will? Will we have any legacy to pass to our children and grandchildren?
All these inquiries boil down to a single question: “Will I be able to live my DREAM Retirement?”
People ask that question in different ways because everyone’s DREAM retirement is a little different. But the heart of the matter is identical – Financial Security, being able to do what you want when you want with who you want without financial worries.
For many American’s, a little hard work and proper planning make financial security possible, both in working years and retirement. But for many around the world, financial security takes on a whole different meaning, it is about just providing for the basics in life – food, shelter and education for their kids.
This GIVING TUESDAY is a great opportunity for you to give someone financial security. You might think that is impossible, but a goat may be all that’s needed to keep a family feed. A loan of $50 may help someone start a business and be able to provide for their family. One hundred bras can free a girl for slavery and set her up with a new life so she is never sucked back into that vicious cycle.
The World Vision Gift Catalog provides numerous opportunities to give something like a goat that will help a family be able to provide for themselves. Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for life. World Vision takes that saying to heart and works to educate those in the communities they work and help them become self-sustaining.
Kiva.org is a great place to go to take part in microloans. These loans help people start businesses in countries where job opportunities are few. Loans are repaid as the business succeeds and then can be used to help another person. Amazing stories on this site.
Free the Girls collects new or gently used bras, giving economic opportunity to women who are survivors of human trafficking. They help them start their own businesses selling bras in their local second-hand clothing markets while they recover and build their new life, empowering them to change the trajectory of their lives.
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly but comes to poverty. ~ King Solomon
